YOUNG INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL IN THE NORTHERN EMIRATES SEEKS PRIMARY MATHS TEACHER - AUGUST 2018

To complete its recruitment cycle for this academic year a primary / elementary maths specialist is needed for this relatively new campus, the latest addition to a successful and thriving school group in the United Arab Emirates. It employs a US curriculum but will accept experienced teachers with qualifications from the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa as well. Must have a Bachelor degree (or BEd) in Maths.

Start up projects requires strong teamwork and people skills alongside an equal ability to work independently and creativity in a learning environment that is evolving to be more student centred. Teaching local students demands strong skills of differentiation, academically, linguistically and culturally and strong classroom management skills; some experience is preferred. Please note that this is not a typical western expatriate school and all students speak English as a second language.

The salary ranges from 9500 AED to 11,000 AED per month depending on qualifications and experience. Furnished housing is provided (shared or single but not suitable for a family). Flights yearly, paid utilities and gratuity are provided alongside optional earning extras of paid clubs and monitored tuition.

Located in the Northern Emirates this teaching opportunity not only allows a chance to explore a more cultural part of the country but being housed in Sharjah also opens up the delights of living in an increasingly modern and vibrant city which sits on the doorstep of Dubai. From beautiful beaches to mangrove trees, precipitous mountain ranges to the wondrous depths of the Gulf, this opportunity offers everything that is to be discovered in the UAE.

Regional Info:
Umm al Quwain is the least populous of the Emirates and one of the smallest (800 sq km). Somewhat undiscovered at the moment, it is about a 30 minute drive from Dubai. It has both beautiful, lush green coastal mangroves lining the shores of the Gulf, and desert dunes inland stretching to a green oasis town at Falaj Al Moalla. From Autumn to Spring temperatures are idyllic, averaging 26C in daytime and 15C at night (79F to 59F), getting hotter in the late spring and summer months. Rainfall is minimal. The coastline experiences cool sea breezes during the day. The name Umm Al Quwain is from Umm Al Quwatain, meaning "Mother of two powers", a reference to the powerful seafaring tradition of this emirate.
